Youth Employment Network for Energy Sustainability in Islands
YENESIS is a project funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA and Norway Grants Fund for Youth Employment. It will address the challenge of unemployment for young people that are Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET) in islands. Islands suffer from high unemployment throughout the year, with a seasonal peak on non-tourist periods, especially amongst young people. Young professionals in islands may face several challenges such as limited job opportunities that often requires years of experience that leads to a vicious cycle of a lack of job-lack of experience situation. YENESIS will reduce unemployment by creating green jobs in the four areas of energy efficiency, renewables, sustainable tourism, and mobility.

The YENESIS online platform contains good practices for youth employment shown through numerous success stories. The goal of the platform is to promote
innovative practices for employment to the interested parties in order to adopt similar actions towards lowering youth unemployment.
The platform is open to both members of the main target group and, also, investors and other stakeholders. Participants have the opportunity to share business opportunities, find partners, pitch their ideas, and collaborate. The platform will ensure the lasting effect of the project, attracting young professionals and entrepreneurs with similar interests and entrepreneurial ventures.
The YENESIS e-course platform is on-line!
The YENESIS e-course consists of eight main modules in the thematic areas of energy efficiency, renewable energy sources, sustainable tourism, sustainable mobility, climate adaptation, circular economy, sustainable food systems and sustainable water management combining the horizontal topics of Business Innovation and Soft Skills. The courses are available in 7 languages: English, Greek, Spanish, Italian, Croatian, Estonian and Portuguese.
